I'm a digital product designer with graphic design roots. I'm passionate about creating experiences that are useful, usable, and beautiful.
For the last 5 years I was the design lead at You Need a Budget. As design hire #1, I played a big part in helping YNAB become a major player in personal finance software. I defined and refined their brand, voice, and messaging. I designed the UI for the widely popular YNAB 4, re-designed their iPhone & Android apps, and designed an iPad app. I led the design of their new web app, and designed and coded several versions of their marketing site.
Before YNAB, I performed a similar role for the clients of Version-X who were bringing new products and brands to market. Version-X was a small multi-disciplinary shop, so I worked on everything from naming and brand strategy, to web design and development, packaging, copywriting, photography, print, exhibits and everything in-between. My work there won two Graphis Gold awards and has been featured in several books and magazines.
When I’m not working, I can be found with my nose buried in a book (probably Sci-Fi), tending my micro-orchard, or spending time with my wife, son, and greyhound.
